Sculpture courses


Purpose of courses:
The acquisition, during a stay of intensive work, of technical sculptural workmanship, and the development of a rational system of approaching both material and form (in marble, wood, clay..).
All learning is conducted in small groups through a direct interpersonal relationship between teacher and student (of various ages, nationalities and levels of skill). As the programme




Equipment:
For manual workmanship: tools will be provided by the studio. For workmanship with mechanical tools: the studio will provide air hammers and electric-mechanical hammers, (chisels are excluded).
For other mechanical equipment, such as disk-cutting machines, students are asked to provide their own disks or procure them locally.
Students may also utilise their own tools, if they are considered adequate.
-All equipment agreed for use by the studio conforms to current regulations.
-The equipment granted for use cannot be handed over or used by third parties
-The user will be informed in advance about the correct use and maintenance of tools that are offered for use.

Material:
A sufficient amount will be made available by the studio for practising during the entire course, the cost of which is included in the course fee. For marble, in particular, an assortment of small regular and irregular block will be made available (maximum + - 50 kilos).
-Upon request, we can provide marble or other stones cut to size, upon estimate of expenses.
-Students may keep their final work of art. (Only In case course C Courses for special stone and marble techniques, resulting work will remain in the ownership of the studio –as programme-)
Outfitting:
Working with maximum regards to safety is extremely important.
Protective glasses, gloves, comfortable work clothing and sturdy shoes should be worn..
Mechanical workmanship: headsets and masks should be used.
Assistance:
A teacher is present Monday to Friday from 9:00am until 12:00 noon, and from 2:00pm until 5:00pm. On Saturdays, from 9:00am until 12:00 noon. Students may also work outside the above-mentioned hours without the teacher’s presence.
Guests and  students are offered the opportunity to work and live at the same site, with the privilege of carrying out artistic activity manually until late hours, (outside of normal working hours), therefore guaranteeing respectful tranquillity and a pleasant environment for all residents, while satisfying students’ needs to interact and pursue works in progress. (Anticipated hours, with mechanical tools from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. till 12.00 p.m.. In observance of silence Saturday afternoon, Sunday, holidays, during hours of available light).


Teachers
Sculptor Boutros Romhein, sculptor Lutfi Romhein, Educational requirements, in particular for the teaching of specialized sculptural techniques, may also result in other professional sculptors and freelance professionals being. present.
Accommodation: Our guest quarters are adjacent to the work area, and offer.
Personal liability
Guests are asked to ensure that their insurance policy covers personal and public liability. Damage to objects or people will be the exclusive responsibility of the guest. The cooperative does not assume responsibility for any disease contracted, or damage to objects or other people.

*The remaining amount must be deposited on arrival at the Studio Arco Arte before the course begins.
*At the sculpture studio in Carrara students will have the options of paying with Credit Card or Bancomat Card.
-Any contract or invoice signed by the cooperative is in full compliance with Italian law.

A 50% reimbursement will be given only for cancellations in writing at least four weeks before the course is due to begin. No reimbursement will be made for cancellations made in the last four weeks leading up to the course starting date. If for serious technical reasons Arco Arte coop should not be able to hold the course for the chosen dates, guests will be notified thereof and requested to select other dates or given full reimbursement of the sums paid. All guests are advised to take out their own insurance for the duration of the course. Arco Arte coop accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any accidents or damage to persons or objects.
